I want to meet Chip and Joanna Gaines
Before this year came to an end, I finished listening to “The Magnolia Story” by Chip and Joanna Gaines. I also completed the audio book by Chip Gaines called “Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff.”
I really enjoyed listening to the experiences and lessons learned by the Gaines duo. In case you haven’t heard of them, Chip and Joanna were stars of their own hit show on HGTV called Fixer Upper. Chip’s goofiness and Joanna’s charm made for great television as they worked together to help families find and renovate their dream home. I, personally, didn’t really watch any Fixer Upper episodes on TV until I had listened to “The Magnolia Story” on Audible.
What struck me about the “Magnolia Story” was Chip and Joanna’s willingness to work together and balance each other’s quirks, strengths, and weaknesses to accomplish their goals. They were able to overcome many obstacles when it came to building their businesses to growing their family.
It made me think about my marriage with Makenzie and all of our experiences together. We’ve been through a lot highs and lows but we’ve always managed to keep growing. We’ve only been married a few years but we already have so many memories to fall back on and pull strength from.
There were a few times as I listened “Magnolia Story” where I started to tear up a bit as Joanna shared her insights on the struggles they went through. Chip talked about how the managed to stay positive despite the struggles and setbacks that came their way. It reminded me of how tough it really was to get Jamias Creative off the ground and gain momentum.
Despite their struggles, Joanna and Chip managed to stay focused and keep everything in perspective. It reminded that I need to continue to think about the long game in everything I do without being hung up on setbacks.
“Magnolia Story” helped my reset and refocus on what really works and what really counts in life. Because of that, I want to meet Chip and Joanna for a chance to thank them in person.
